Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Hydra Gel sheet mask by Missha
Snails 🐌... last place you would want to imagine them is on your face, right? Well, K-Beauty brand Missha promises cell renewal, skin improvement and prevention of skin damage through this Super Aqua Hydro-gel sheet mask, the main ingredient being snail mucin which supports cell healing and regeneration. It kind of makes sense: snails use their own mucin to instantly heal their body when it suffers minor cuts from crawling, so the theory. The mask also contains Baobab tree extract to moisturise the skin and prevent skin damage. Let's see if my face feels moisturised and re-energised after this!
The sheet mask comes in separate sheets for top half of face and one for the bottom half. It's kind of comfy as ensures a better adherence than a one-piece. It's supposed to react to body temperature so that the active ingredients melt and quickly absorb into the skin. The texture is proper slimey but hey, it's snail after all. The mask has a nice light smell to it, similar to the fresh scent of cucumber.
You have to let it work for 20-40 minutes which is the longest I've ever experienced with a sheet mask but as it's a snug fit it seems totally doable. Whilst the mask unfolds its healing magic it feels nicely fresh and cool. It doesn't move or crease, I think the 2 separate sheets is a very good idea as the heavy substance would definitely cause the mask to slide. I can practically feel the ingredients absorb in my skin and can't wait to take it off to see the effects!
After about 20 minutes it seems like all of the substance is absorbed and I take the mask off. There is almost no residue left on skin so I don't feel the need to wash my face afterwards. My skin feels super smooth and looks plump and I can swear that even the tiny wrinkles around my eyes have smoothened. I had a slight sunburn and cracked skin on my forehead from a previous holiday and this seems to have gone too. The plumping effect persists the day after, so I would say this was a full success! I will definitely buy this mask again.
You can buy the mask from Missha website or purchase it from Amazon. With £6 and up it's rather on the expensive side but I consider it's effects similar to a professional Spa treatment so it's totally worth it.
