Balance Me 99% natural skincare
The UK based brand Balance Me emerged last year and suddenly became really huge, with counters and representatives from John Lewis to Boots. I first became aware of the Balance me skincare range when I got a sample of the Instant Lift Primer and was instantly sold into the brand. Balance Me claim (and actually manage!) to craft skincare with 99% natural ingredients, free from parabens, petroleum, silicones, microbeads, artificial fragrances and colours. And the best thing when it comes to their products - they don't compromise on texture and scent. And with a price tag of ca £25 per cream the products are a good value.
The creams, micellar waters, face oils etc. come in various ranges and are not skin type specific, however there are two ranges that are aimed to balance the problems of sensitive and combination skin. In the last year I have used various products from across ranges and have to say that they always worked wonderfully for my normal to dry skin complexion. I will review the products I have used with a special emphasis on ingredients, texture and scent. All of these products have worked amazingly well for me and left my skin well hydrated and supple.
The Fresh Cleanse Micellar Water is multitasking: it can be used as a cleansing solution without using water to remove makeup and dirt, but it also acts as a calming tonic. Tab water (especially in big cities like London) is full of harsh chemicals and destroys the natural PH balance of our skin which can make it tense, dry and flakey. With the Micellar Water you can remove dirt, sweat and makeup without having to rinse your face with water. Used on a cotton pad, it removes even waterproof mascara and is supposed to have anti-ageing properties too due to Hyaluronic Acid which prevents moisture loss. It's infused with Chamomile which additionally calms down skin. All in all this is an excellent alternative to cleansing soaps and foams as it retains the skin's natural PH - and it feels and shows!
Moisture Rich Face Cream
The Moisture Rich Face Cream is super light in texture yet intensely hydrating, it absorbs very fast and I use it in my morning skincare routine just before I put on makeup. It's rich on Aloe Vera and is perfect for sensitive skin due to it's soothing properties. It also contains Rose Absolute and Rose Geranium Oil which give it a lovely, subtle rosey scent. The Roses are also anti-inflammatory and treat minor scarring which sensitive skin is often prone to. The Finnish Arctic Cloudberry (a Nordic relative of Raspberry) is an anti-oxidant and protects skin from environmental damage, it's also believed to fight skin ageing. I have been using the cream for about two months and my skin feels healthy and hydrated, it has proven to be a fuss-free, light everyday go-to.
Wonder Eye Cream
The Wonder Eye Cream really is a little wonder! My eyes tend to go really puffy to long work hours spent staring at screens. When using the Wonder Eye Cream my under-eye area feels instantly hydrated, refreshed and soothed. I use the cream as part of my evening skincare routine but it's actually intended to be used in the morning as it's very light textured, giving your eyes an awake kick! The main active ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid which has an important role in retaining our skin's moisture. As we age our body's natural production of hyaluronic acid slows down, so no surprise that it's been a recent trend for beauty brands to add hyaluronic acid into serums and creams. It is believed to penetrate the sensitive skin around the eye area to hydrate and plum from the inside. Other ingredients include Cucumber Oil and Witch Hazel which calm down irritated skin and have anti-inflammatory properties. I have been using the Wonder Eye Cream for a few months and it always has that instant boosting effect making the thin skin around the eyes seem plumper. There is also a tinted version of this Eye Cream which I can't wait to try!
